I agree with regards to the way the receptionists handle their phone calls. They want to get you off the phone asap. I hope the practice manager reads these comments because in all honesty, the receptionists need to learn some manners. Due to their rudeness, I have decided to take my child elsewhere and will certainly tell all my friends and relatives to go where they are treated with respect.
But what knocks all of that into the mud is getting past the horrid woman who runs their phones and front desk. She has the stunning ability to turn a 45 second phone call to make an appointment into a more negative and stressful experience than having a sick child.
This review is a difficult one. On the plus side their actual doctors and nurses are amazing and seem to genuinely care.
This practice came highly recommended to me by a family friend but I was warned about the reception staff.
If it wasn't for the convenience of the location and the affiliation with CHOP which is Children's Hospital of Philadelphia I would switch practices in a heartbeat. The doctors and nurses are really really nice however as a whole the practice only cares about money. Last year I literally rushed my infant into the office as per Dr.'s instructions at which time the doctor called an ambulance. The front desk insisted three times that I stop and pay the co-pay before rushing her back to the room. I explained that I will pay after I get my daughter situated and seen by the Doctor. She was vomiting and defecating on controllably which turned out to be a life-threatening allergic reaction. They charged$10 just to fill out paperwork confirming that your child had a physical which they need for sports. At one point we had double insurance for my daughter which means that she should've been extra covered and they refused to submit the remainder of the uncovered expenses and co pays to our secondary insurance even though I had already called the secondary insurance and they confirmed that they would cover half of the co-pay. I called and requested to talk to the office manager and they told me that the head doctor makes the rules so I requested to speak to him and apparently he refused to talk to me. They told me that the office handles all calls and the doctors will not talk to anybody. My had a life threatening illness a few years ago and we have extensive bills and extensive worry over his health so as you can imagine Charging us more for co-pays and refusing to submit to secondary insurance just adds to our stress. The office told us that we must get together all the bills ourselves and send them to the secondary insurance ourselves. I just think it's a real shame when doctors and offices forget that we're all human and that we are there to have our children taken care of. They forget that we choose them as a practice which means we can switch at any point. Instead of relating to us as people they see a paycheck. It's a real shame because the doctors themselves are very personable for the most part so I hate to negatively impact them over a few people who have lost or forgot first do no harm both and then helping peoplei. Particular children is what it's all about.
I had such a great experience here. The staff and the doctor were wonderful. Our wait time was very minimal, by the time I finished completing paper work, they were ready to take my daughter in. We spent most of our visit speaking directly with Dr. Shah, who was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this practice.
