They seemed so nice in the beginning. But then they forced my mother's discharge before she was physically strong enough. Like all hospitals and medical facilities in this country, they don't give a 'ish about you if you don't have proper insurance. And in our case my mother worked for the state of NJ for a very long time and had all the health care she needed. STILL she was forced out. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. Especially if you are a person of color.
My aunt was at The Gardens for several weeks. PT staff was above average, and the attendants were pretty friendly and accommodating. However, the place is dated and unappealing, and the ladies at the desk (not the reception desk, the medical desk) were very unfriendly, every time I was there. They ignored me until I made it impossible to do so. At first, I thought it was just one or two bad apples, but no matter when I went to the desk or who was manning it, I got the same cold shoulder. Weird and not customer focused. The food was hit or miss, and the food odors were very unappealing.
My mother-in-law recently spent two weeks at this facility. We have nothing but great things to say about it. The staff is caring, excellent and well-trained. There is always someone to answer your questions and look in on you to see how you are doing. Therapy is consistent and delivered on a one to one basis. Activities are provided for both rehab and full-time patients. She was so happy to be here that she almost didn't want to go home!
I was there for rehab after having both my knees replaced. I could not have asked for better care. In response to calls somebody appeared instantly. I had been at the Elms for rehab after a broken hip and my experience there was exactly the opposite. My husband was also at the Elms following surgery. The food was AWFUL. One day that stands out everything on the plate was brown, covered in gravy. I ended up ordering salads every day. Thankfully they were not brown. Given the choice I would always choose The Gardens over the Elms. Somebody I know was at the Elms because her insurance would not cover The Gardens. She said she did not have a bad experience there, but would have preferred The Gardens.
My ongoing experience at The Gardens At Monroe continues to be superior. Everyone is warm and greets us with genuine pleasure. It is warming to be asked how you are faring, and know that it is genuinely meant. The professionalism, care and concern exhibited towards my mother by all staff, is impressive to family and friends alike. The upkeep of this establishment is outstanding; as are the services provided. Mom's personal care and the attention provided by her caregivers, nursing staff and activities staff is excellent. My questions and concerns are always handled with rapidity, thoroughness, discretion and kindness. It is comforting to know that I can be confident and secure that my mother is cared for just as I love and care for her myself. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at The Gardens At Monroe. I recommend your services to everyone I meet.
